How to Hide from the Locator Bar
Sneak, wear a mob head or carved pumpkin, or use Invisibility to drop off other players' Locator Bars. Spectator is only visible to other spectators.
Current for Java Edition 1.21.6 and later.
Stay on the world, leave their strip. Sneak, put on a mob head or a carved pumpkin, or drink Invisibility. Those four states stop you from showing up as a marker.
What actually hides you
| Action | Who stops seeing you | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sneak | Everyone using the bar | The transmitter turns off while you sneak |
| Mob head or carved pumpkin | Everyone using the bar | The same hide rules as player locators on maps |
| Invisibility | Everyone using the bar | The effect removes you from the strip |
| Spectator | Survival and Creative players | Only other spectators can still see you |
You do not need to disable the gamerule for the whole world. That is the turn-off page if the host wants the strip gone for everyone.
What does not hide you
Changing your name, skin, or cape does nothing. The marker is not the skin. On Java it follows the UUID. Confirm the color they still see when you stand up: Locator Bar Color Checker.
Walking far away only shrinks the icon. Range limits are on How Far the Locator Bar Reaches.
Bedrock
Bedrock hide rules are not this page. If you need the strip gone there, use Turn Off Player Waypoints on Minecraft Bedrock.
